To begin with, I would like to single out two main components that are necessary to achieve a high sports result, the first is the physical form of the athlete, the second is his psychological attitude. In the first case, in general, everything is clear, high-quality training increases such indicators as flexibility, endurance, speed, strength, agility, and so on. But with the psychological attitude, everything is not so simple, for example, an athlete can train very well, at each training session he works exactly as much as necessary, showing good results, but he cannot show his maximum at competitions, why? In most cases, just the same psychological attitude plays a role, before the competition (and sometimes even a few days before), some changes occur in the human body, or rather in its brain function, which later can lead to such unpleasant consequences, namely: temperature, fear, difficulty breathing, dizziness, weakness throughout the body, increased heart rate. There is also another reaction of a person to competitions, this is excessive self-confidence, overestimation of one's own strengths and underestimation of rivals, all this together leads to indications of not the best results. In order to prevent this from happening, it is necessary to use some psychological "tricks", namely, to teach the athlete to control emotions during training, immediately before the competition (1-2 days in advance) you should not do hard training, and also stay at the stadium or in the arena for a long time, at this moment it is important to let the athlete switch to another activity so that he does not think too much about the upcoming competitions and does not “burn out”, it is also worth doing the same warm-up the day before the competition that he will perform directly at the start. Another important point is the thoughts immediately before the start, instead of sitting and thinking "I wish I could run faster and that's it", but think better about tactics and your actions, develop several scenarios to be ready for different situations. I would also single out one more psychological state of athletes, it can be said that it combines the two previous ones, the athlete does not want to compete, yawns, manifestations of apathy and indifference to what is happening are visible, with such an attitude it is very difficult to show a high result, at such moments it is important to have motivation, internal or external, for example, "I want to win because I will be the first" or "I want to win because I will get good prize money", everyone has their own motivation, the main thing is not to forget about it before the start. Also, suggestion and self-hypnosis, control, the presence of one's own "rituals" before competitions help in the fight against a bad pre-start state. In general, in order to cope well with pre-start excitement, it is necessary to be able to analyze one’s own strengths and weaknesses, the strengths and weaknesses of rivals, have the right motivation, competently combine training and rest, be disciplined and approach competitions responsibly, and respectfully towards rivals, and the most important thing is to always be human
